UST Rector Recognized Anew as an Outstanding Manilan
In celebration of the 439th Araw ng Maynila, Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim recognizes Rev. Fr. Rolando V. de la Rosa, OP, Rector of the University of Santo Tomas, as an Outstanding Manilan, together with 10 other awardees on June 24, 2010, at the Maynila Ballroom of the Manila Hotel. The Father Rector is acknowledged for his contributions in Values Formation. As the citation states:
“He is a saintly theologian forged by rigorous and profound studies in various local and foreign universities; His apostolate in the academe has elevated him to Rector of the University of Santo Tomas (2008-present); He was also Chairman of the Commission on Higher Education (2004-2005), Rector and President of Colegio de San Juan de Letran, Calamba (2003-2004); He is a tireless researcher and has authored books and articles on the evangelization of the Philippines, the Filipinization of religious orders and the restoration of morality and humanity.”
The Outstanding Manilan award is Fr. de la Rosa’s second. He was first recognized in 1995 for his contributions in the field of Education. Among those recognized this year are President-elect Beningno Aquino III, His Emminence Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales, Justice Antonio Carpio, Justice Edilberto Sandoval, Mr. Manuel Lopez, Dr. Lydia Echauz, Dr. Lucio Tan, Bro.
